Choi Kwang Do is a unique martial art based on scientific principles and developed to promote optimum health, fitness and self defense. It was founded on March 2, 1987 by Grandmaster Kwang Jo Choi 9th Degree Black Belt. Choi Kwang Do’s training methods and concepts are unique in the fitness and martial arts industry. It’s a non-contact, non-fighting, art that stresses mental, physical, emotional and social development. The system also promotes nonviolent resolutions to conflicts, practical solutions to cardiovascular improvement, and enjoyable methods of exercise. This art teaches self discipline, self motivation and self refinement at every stage of life. This unique art has spread over 40 countries in the world.
In India it was first introduced on 7th June, 1992 by Grandmaster Kwang Jo Choi and further taken forward by Master Bikram S. Thapa, 5th Dan Black Belt (USA), Gen. Secy. & Chairman Technical Committee of Choi Kwang Do Martial Art International (India), who has an experience of over 20 years. He has trained over 15,000 Martial Art Students and is still imparting the training to Hundreds of students every year successfully.
Now, Master Bikram S. Thapa’s meticulous efforts have started bearing fruits. He heads an elaborate family of over 20 State bodies of Choi Kwang Do Martial Art spread over more than 20 states of India. Choi Kwang Do is also included in the Sports Calendar (2009-2010) of School Games Federation of India under Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs, Govt. of India and I.
He rather takes it as a social cause and dreams of India which would be devoid of Health Problems… India which would be well equipped with Practical Self Defense System… India which would be beaming with Enormous Positive Energy in the form of ever friendly, ever energetic yet vigilant, natives…So that the likes of Kasab would not be able to overpower hundreds of Indians inside Hotel Taj with a few AK -47’s .
